Philomena Sharpe is haunted by the ghost of the boy she killed nine years ago. Who, like many commoners in the kingdom, is locked outside the Gates to the Afterlife.
Philomena is an unsanctioned Player -- a musician who wields magic from her craft to guide common souls into the overflowing Afterlife. When an ordinary Death Delivery goes off course, Philomena is arrested and forced into the Royal Court of Harte, where Players are dissapearing one-by-one.
When her own mother goes missing, she reluctantly allies with the enigmatic guard who arrested her, to search for her missing mother and the abducted Players across the kingdom.
With the help of her stoic guard and a Harte Palace ghost, Philomena learns that trust is a craft that can be mastered, and ghosts are not the only things that haunt us.
Philomena must master her absolution and embrace her troubled past -- because even the haunted can be hallowed.
